Plastic Surgery is a branch of surgery devoted to improving body shape. It may be divided into three areas: aesthetic, repair and reconstructive surgery. Aesthetic surgery, which has been the most popular branch of surgery for the general public during the last few years, is devoted to the modification of body shape in order to approach the ideal of beauty of the time, that is to say, from the normal standard to the archtype.
For instance, if having nice breasts, a flat belly or soft hips are all highly praised characteristics today, the plastic surgeon puts the best of his science and art to fulfill this aim in each patient

At the same time, if the celerity of our time calls for people to work intensively and remain young (or at least seem so), the plastic surgeon devotes himself to removing the traces of the passage of time in the face and body and regain a youthful and natural look for the patient.

Repair surgery corrects defects and tries to bring the individual into a normal condition. For example, a child born with a harelip or who has suffered burns in his face or hands, an adult who has been involved in an accident and has been left with scars, an elder person who has a big tumour in his skin, among others.

Repair surgery is devoted to the reconstruction of body areas which have been lost through an accident or an oncological surgery.
The most common example is a mastectomy due to a breast tumour. As you may probably understand, Plastic Surgery is both a science and an art devoted to improving all the human body
